Review: Temptu AIRbrush Makeup System!

Recently purchased a Temptu AIRbrush Makeup System. I've been able to play with it just about every day since I took it out of the box. Hope that you find this review helpful if your thinking about purchasing an airbrush system or just curious about how it works! ☺

What is an airbrush?

❣ An airbrush is a small, air-operated tool that sprays various media including alcohol and water-based makeup by a process of nebulization.

What is airbrush makeup?

❣ Airbrush makeup is makeup sprayed onto the skin using an airbrush instead of being applied with sponges, brushes, fingers, or other methods.

Airbrush Makeup has recently been re-popularized by the advent of HDTV and Digital Photography, wherein the camera focuses on higher depths of detail. Liquid Foundations that are high in coverage but thin in texture are applied with the airbrush for full coverage without a heavy build-up of product.

Why I chose Temptu?

❣ Love that it's sleek & compact.

❣ Love that it's an exclusive item at Sephora. (I trust Sephora, if they gave this system the stamp of approval to be an exclusive item for them, then it must be worth trying.)

After using the Temptu for almost a month at home on myself as well as on clients, my feelings:

❣ This system is extremely easy to set up. It comes with detailed instructions along with a dvd.

❣ You can build the coverage without it looking cakey, which is an A+ in my book.

❣ Great for everyday use, can go on as sheer as a tinted moisturizer & as heavy as full coverage. (as mentioned in my face routine post)

Easy to travel with, another plus if you are a freelance MUA. It will display to your clientele that you are on top of next generation makeup. Ever since I started introducing this system to clients they are very impressed with the results & always inquire about owning one for their home.

❣ No mess, makes everyones life a bit easier. The less brushes that I have to wash at the end of the day, the better.

❣ AIR pod Foundation contains a smoothing complex to diffuse the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, color-correcting pigments to camouflage imperfections, and moisturizers to help hydrate the skin.

What else you need to know:

❣ When going around the nose area, hold your head down to avoid spraying foundation into your nose. (I prefer to move the airbrush in one direction going downward when doing the nose area)

❣ Keep the airbrush moving.

❣ I use the airbrush as a concealer first (basically using it as a spot treatment before applying to the rest of my face)

❣ For full coverage I apply foundation one layer at a time. (allowing to dry between layers) I do not use the air to dry my foundation.

Taking care of your machine & keeping it clean is very important.

Proper air flow will ensure best possible results, before each application:

❣ Shake pod well.

❣ Holding the airpod vertically place poker inside the valve for 3-5 seconds to open up the valve.

After each application:

❣ Clean the nozzle of airpod using the same poker. This will ensure no clogging or build up. (do this before foundation drys)

❣ Store poker inside of airpod, fits very conviently inside of the clear tube.

Overall:

It was very much worth the $280 that I spent. I purchased the limited edition set which is a $315 value. The system is $225. Foundation $55 (which includes 2 airpods) The champagne highlighter was included in my set as well. I used it on my glamours party make-up post. Wearing this makeup feels like there is nothing on my face at all. It is so lightweight, I'm amazed at the coverage that it gives. Perfect for weddings & special occasions if it's not something that you feel like you'd splurge on for everyday use.

You can go to your local Sephora for a demo on how to use the system which really helps those that are indecisive about this purchase.

******I did the fullest coverage without adding any setting powder or other makeup which gave me this finish- I do not recommend such a full coverage for everyday makeup, I did this for demonstration purposes :)******

  2. Thank you for your comment on my blog, you have a pretty cute blog yourself, I'm following. :)

About the HD powder, not too keen about it, I thnk it's heavily overrated and it makes me look white in flash photos. I much prefer the ELF mineral booster in tinted :)
In fact I'm including that in one of the future posts similar to the ones I just posted on both the mineral line and the studio line :D

I don't own airbrush, but I was once involved in a shoot in which a flower was drawn on my left side of my face. It feels really cold hahaha :D

  3. Hey Valerie,

I wanted to show what amazing natural coverage you can accomplish. Evening out my skintone by covering all dark spots first then airbrushing all over gave me this finish.

Radiant & Luminous.. I did not set with powder for review purposes.

To me, the funny thing is - the thing is really kind of famous and always out of stock. People are always asking for it. And I'm like - yeah I don't like it. Ahhahahha.

  7. I use the elf HD powder every once in a while. If u look ashy ur using too much... A little goes a long way. U can't use it the way u use ur regular face powder. Swirl ur brush around, tap off the excess make sure the powder is spread evenly on ur brush and that should do ur entire face. I think the HD powder is better for touch ups... But who wants yo walk around with that big thing?!

  8. You're right you can't use too much, no matter what it never looks good over any foundation that I use, although its fine to set my concealer (I use a little bit on a fluffy crease brush)
I like Laura Mercier's setting powder a lot!
