FAQ: Why is priming your eyelids so important?

Working with make-up all day long, you begin to hear the same questions over & over again... So I've decided to start a new series on my blog... FAQ's (frequently asked questions) This should be fun :)

Why is priming your eyelids so important?

♥♥ You apply eyelid primer to insure that there will be no color fading, creasing, melting, blurring, oil slicked, and hard-to-blend eyeshadow accidents. (yes, primer makes eyeshadow a lot easier to blend) It also gives the eyeshadow color a nice pop!

♥♥ A little goes a long way with primer so a thin even layer is all that you need. This step takes literally 2 seconds to complete and it's so worth it! It prepares your eyelids for the color. Just like when you paint a wall, you prime first.. it's the same thing with your make-up!

♥♥ It evens out the skin tone on your lids and smooths lines while securing a barrier between the oils of your skin and your makeup!

♥♥ Some think that using concealer would do the trick.. WRONG! Concealer is used to do just what it says, CONCEAL! Hide acne scars, marks, blemishes, dark circles... not prime. Primer is specifically formulated to seal the surface and make sure the eyeshadow adheres to the surface to create the best-looking, longest-lasting finish. You are wasting your time, make-up and of course, money if your eyeshadow begins to fade & the color payoff isn't what it has the potential to be if you don't prime first.

One of my all time favorite eyeshadow primers is Too Faced Shadow Insurance! ($18) I've had mine for over a year, and it is still going strong! I love this product! I of course have many other primers, but this is one of my favs!

I hope that this new series of FAQ's will help, if you have any questions that you'd like me to answer comment below or send me an email ♥

  2. Thanks Susie, what a great question! For $18 I'd say that you are getting a lot for your money.. Unlike a lot of other primers this one doesn't dry out & because it's a squeeze tube you can get all of the product out! Like I said, I've had mine over a whole year!

Some things are just as good from the drugstore, but some things I feel like spending a little extra it works in my favor in the long run! *hope this super long answer helps* ;)
